Frank is a native of Cleveland, Ohio who attended Kansas State University from 1980 to 1985 and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture. Frank joined Glen Westervelt and Lawrence Landscape in March of 1987. His “official” title is Production Manager, but Glen keeps changing the job responsibilities and therefore every month is a new adventure. As Production Manager, Frank schedules crews for residential and commercial landscaping, as well as irrigation installation and maintenance. Some of the projects that Frank is most proud of include the Elmore pool and backyard landscape, the Lawrence school district’s sports fields retaining walls, the landscaping at the Westwood Subdivision (located Northwest of Free State High School), the Sabatini building at Kansas University, and at David Clemente’s Stone Creek restaurant.
Frank believes strongly in continuing education and the PLANET (Professional Landcare Network), our national professional organization. Frank has earned the designation of Certified Landscape Professional (CLP) by surviving a four hour written test on marketing and sales, risk law and contracts, production operations, financial management, corporate citizenship, strategic planning and human resources. He also earned the Certified Landscape Technician (CLT) from Planet which involved written tests on safety, plan reading and plant sensitivities, as well as a fourteen module hands on field test that included machine operation, tree and sod installation, plant identification, irrigation troubleshooting and repairs and other topics. Frank was the first in Kansas to achieve both of these designations.
