Landscape Maintenance FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it safe to let my children or pets out on a newly treated lawn?

It is usually best to allow the treatment to dry completely before coming into direct contact with the turf. This usually means four to six hours from the time noted on the door hanger left by the technician.

Do you do commercial maintenance?

Yes.

Should I bag my clippings when I mow?

If you are mowing less than 1/3 of the total leaf height, it is best to leave the clippings. They contain many nutrients that the turf can reuse.

When is the best time to over seed my lawn?

We recommend over-seeding in September.  This is the time of year when environmental conditions are most favorable.

Should I aerate my lawn?  If so, how often should I do it?

Every lawn is going to benefit from being aerated.  We recommend having it done at least once a year, normally in the fall.

When and how can I control bagworms?

If you normally have problems with bagworms, contact a Lawrence Landscape representative in early to mid spring.  He will get you on the spray list.  Lawrence Landscape will monitor bagworm activity and make the spray application when the bagworms are most susceptible.

How do I get rid of the crabgrass in my lawn?

The most efficient method of controlling crabgrass is to apply a pre-emergent in early spring.  This will eliminate the crabgrass from germinating.
