Irrigation Design
At Lawrence Landscape we’ve been designing and installing irrigation systems for over 20 years. Irrigation is viewed by some as a luxury – those of us who love landscaping know it is essential for a healthy environment. Water is necessary for all living things to thrive and we all know landscapes are living breathing eco-systems. A well designed irrigation system is organized in specific hydro-zones. A hydro-zone is a micro climate in a turf area or landscape. Lawrence Landscape designs irrigation systems into hydro-zones that have the same water requirements so that with the right controller the right amount of water, not too much or too little, will be applied for a healthy eco-system. Ultimately turf & plants are healthier and the property owner saves water & money. This is green in several ways…
The three major design categories we are involved in include,
-
Residential - homeowner
-
Commercial - varies from restraints to industrial sites
-
Sports Fields - softball, football, soccer
The following are the major design components:
Rotors are for big areas, typically front and back yards that are 30' x 30' or more in size
Sprays are typically used in smaller areas like side yards or parking lot islands that are 4' to 17' wide. These heads typically use twice as much water as a rotor head.
Distribution tubing with drip emitters for each plant or tree.
Drip pipe with eternal emitters on one foot centers
Brass main shut off valves hooked to the water service
Brass ball valve for system winterization
Brass Double Check Valve backflow preventer
Master Valve operates in conjunction with each zone valve
Zone Valve electrically controlled, one for each zone
We use Class 200 PVC pipe in our commercial systems as well as our residential systems
Irrigation controllers are the brains of the system. They allow you the ultimate flexibility in picking times of the day to water, duration for each zone, days of the week, and specific plant material to water.
All controllers installed by Lawrence Landscape have a remote plug so you don't have to be home when we turn on, service, or winterize your sprinkler. A major convenience to our customers.
Sensors make a good thing better. Most of our controllers will accept sensors that will help save water.
Rain Sensor Have you ever seen irrigation systems running while it is raining? We can eliminate that problem with a sensor that shuts down the system after the first few drops of rain.
Freeze Sensor In the fall we've seen sprinklers run after freezing overnight tempuratures, icing sidewalks, driveways and landscaping. We have the solution.
ET System Evapotranspiration systems gather real time information to calculate your ideal irrigation schedule. This is the ultimate "GREEN" upgrade saving you both water and money by providing the water required for the turf and landscaping.
